EAGLE SCOUT INSTALLS FIT STATIONS AT CHEROKEE PARK

Thomasville's Cherokee Park, one of the largest parks owned and maintained by the City of Thomasville, has many beautiful features, including a playground, walking trail, and rose garden, but did you know it also contains a Fit Trail? A local Eagle Scout recently completed the installation of a 10-station Fit Trail, adding another amenity to this park for the community to enjoy. CITY OF THOMASVILLE WANTS YOUR HELP NAMING DOG DECOYS AT CHEROKEE LAKE

Cherokee Lake Park is a great park for picnics, exercise, and playtime. It is also a great time to enjoy nature, including geese that are fond of the park. However, the geese can also be a nuisance from time to time. CHEROKEE LAKE PARK RIBBON CUTTING PLANNED FOR SEPTEMBER 8TH

One of Thomasville’s most loved public greenspaces is now reopened for the community’s enjoyment. PROGRESS CONTINUES AT CHEROKEE LAKE

While there have been delays in an improvement project for one of Thomasville’s most popular parks, City staff reports that construction continues at Cherokee Lake. Kellerman Construction and the City of Thomasville have been moving forward with several key elements in the project, including improving and repairing all of the boardwalks and docks, dredging in the north end of the lake, and rehabilitating the park restrooms. “Overall, this project has continued, despite delays that are...

The project was started last summer and will include repairs to the spillway dam and a widened trail on the west side, among other repairs and enhancements. The project will also connect the park’s walking paths to the 15-mile Community Trail, which will ultimately connect all city parks and neighborhoods. CHEROKEE LAKE UPDATE

An improvement project for Cherokee Lake Park is well underway, and City officials report that while the lake continues to drain, citizens are cautioned to limit their usage to the portions of the park that remain open. These portions include the pavilions, playground and walking trail. The improvement project announced previously by the City of Thomasville for Cherokee Lake Park is now officially underway, with the goal to fully return one of Thomasville’s most popular green spaces to the community in early 2018.
